Oral retinoids (Roaccutane) use within 6 months prior to treatment.

The amount of downtime needed for a chemical peel depends on the strength of the peel. For example, a superficial peel can have a quick recovery time of under a week.
However, a more aggressive peel that treats deeper layers of the skin may require one to two weeks of recovery time.
During your recovery period, your skin may become dry, peel, or get irritated. Because of this, we recommend scheduling your chemical peel several weeks in advance of big social events.
When recovering from a chemical peel, your skin will be very vulnerable to the UV rays of the sun. Because of this, itโs important to take steps to protect your skin from these harmful rays. We recommend using a sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and avoiding the sun.

1) The patient must use adequate sunscreen following treatment for at least a week. Sun exposure can cause the skin not to heal properly and may cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
2) Following the peel, the patientโs skin may be slightly dry and red for 1-2 days.
3) Mild peeling should start to occur within 48 hours and last 2-5 days.
4) Events should be planned around the peel.
5) The patient should not speed the peeling process with any physical exfoliation, but should treat the skin very gently during this time.
